written by reader Are editors profiting from the companies they recommend?

By Anonymous Questions, October 1, 2019

Travis, I really enjoy your write-ups. I am hoping you might mention a question I have not been able to get a straight answer on. Do these ”editors” make any money from the companies they recommend? Why else would they recommend so many absolute losers?

Usually in the small print you will see a disclaimer that they must wait three days to invest, but honestly, 3 days is nothing, it often takes that long or longer for the general public to catch up and decide if they want to invest. I will tell you that they don’t have enough influence to pop the price that much…the strategy I use is to check the company out myself that they are recommending and if I like the stock I will set an alert in my account and buy at the price I feel is right for the stock…It is extremely rare that I buy a recommendation on the day the stock is touted. I have often gained a 10% return above what I would have if I followed their advice.

Hope this helps!
