I’m considering taking a position on Nokia in wake of the big dip. I’m a patient investor and don’t mind waiting for it to recover. Obviously they are going to need sacrifice margin moving forward to compete better against Erickson. I see there problems more as a management problem than product portfolio problem though. Curious what others opinions are. At the price they are at I could also see buyout interest from the likes of Cisco or similar.

I think the chance of a takeover is essentially zero, since Finland wouldn’t want to give up its most important company. And I agree that the issues are at least largely with management… but there’s no sign that I see of management fixing the problems or being replaced anytime soon. I don’t know where maximum pessimism is for NOK, but it’s hard to have any confidence in their forecast for even this fourth quarter at this point…. amd clearly there’s more price pressure from the telecom customers than I would have guessed at this stage of the upgrade cycle.
Travis, this reader’s post preceded the announcement on 11/6/19 of a renewed alliance between NOK & MSFT. I’m wondering if this alliance impacts in any way your above (latest) assessment of NOK or if the news is mere trivia.
