“but there have still been 38 capital raises so far this year, and more money was raised this year than last year despite the pullback in marijuana stocks. ”
I don’t think this is right – 2019 capital raises in total is a lot less than the amounts raised in prior years.
Haven’t checked, but that’s what they said on the call. Would have to check what their source was.
Thank you Travis for the “current blatheration”. IRM looks to be a little farther from the edge if I’m reading their statistics correctly. Their debt to equity ratio appears to be fairly high at 661.94% (per Yahoo Finance). Is that due to their capex investments? Also, their payout ratio seems excessive at 177.1%. Is this due to the same reason as D/E?

@Travis are you an analyst?? The quality of your #FridayFiles are just incredible!!
Travis is better than an analyst; here is an example of an analyst quoting from a Zacks note of Nov 7
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/analysts-estimate-nvidia-nvda-report-153003012.html
‘Analysts Estimate Nvidia (NVDA) to Report a Decline in Earnings: What to Look Out for
The earnings report, which is expected to be released on November 14, 2019, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower.’
Duh!
That was a great Friday file Travis. Answered all my questions! Now lets go and buy some MTG.
By the way this was the best Friday file of 2019, loved it!
Cheers,

I could not find MTG-B for buying in Fidelity or TDAmeritrade. Any suggestions?
They’re listed in Stockholm, so you’d need a foreign desk. I use Interactive Brokers to trade on non-US exchanges, though most large brokerages offer international trading in some way to many of their customers — sometimes it requires a call or a higher commission, not sure what Fidelity or TD Ameritrade offer specifically on that front.
Perhaps Modern Times Group will move up to a NY listing, as they are exploring, but there’s no timeline on that.
Thank you Travis, as always 🙂

Hi Travis
Please please please.. help me to find some motivation about ALTIUS… I still don’t get what and how the stock does, and I cannot see any material reason about the price trend getting a recovery in the next 2 years.. I’m desparate about this, and very tempted to kick it out of the window!!!
I don’t know what’s going to happen to commodity prices in the next two years, sadly. If an investment makes you feel desperate, then that’s an easy solution — sell it and be happier.
Altius primarily invests in royalties, both by buying them outright and by doing initial prospecting work on projects and partnering them off to companies who want to develop them in exchange for a royalty. They have good free cash flow and pay a small dividend as they’ve been paying down debt, but the future will depend almost entirely on what price their commodities trade at — right now their cash flow comes roughly 40% from copper, 20% from potash, 15% from coal (fixed price) and 20 from iron ore.
I’ve been too pleased with Altius in the past and have paid too much for some of my shares, particularly following their big royalty acquisition a half dozen years ago, but I still like them as a way to get broad commodity exposure and will likely continue to be patient.
Well Travis thanks for the kind advise, probably I should do it, as per the old mantra “if you can’t understand then don’t put your money on it..”.
Anyway, I will look the next 2-3 months and take a decision. I definitely think there are better places for that (maybe too much) money on that position of mine.
Cheers
