The Gumshoe Brain Trust: Presenting the Winners of the Irregulars Subscription Contest

Recently, one of our Irregulars (our premium members) wrote to us and said, “I am so impressed with your level of commitment to your readers that I would like to convert five of your guests to an annual subscription”.

Delighted, we ran a contest, asking free members to send us an evaluation of a company or industry, an investment idea, or a teaser solution of their own, for a chance to win one year of an Irregular subscription. Readers answered the call. We received quite a number of thoughtful submissions, and we’re pleased to share some of them with you.

Here are our top five winners: 

“In a Land Filled with Goliaths, You Want to be Long a David[1],” presents us with an “unknown, undiscovered, and undervalued” company for consideration. 

In “Limited Funds Dividend Investor: Wanting Power of Compounding[2],” reader tony62tiger lays out his own method for compounding the number of stocks in his portfolio, and welcomes feedback on his strategy. 

Goodlookinstuff (no picture, unfortunately!) sent in an evaluation of a company called “Kemet Electronics (KEM)[3]”.

“silver[4]/">How to Make Millions in Silver” opens up a discussion about how to build a silver and gold[5] portfolio.

Playing the role of Gumshoe was zedsamcat, who fired up his own Thinkolater to solve a teaser ad from Matthew Carr[6], who claims to have found a “4055% Winner in Viper Alert[7]”.

But we couldn’t leave it there! We’ve also published four more notable entries that we enjoyed, and think you will too:

“My One-Stock Strategy[8]” outlines one reader’s unique trading method.

In “My Personal Gumshoe Stock[9],” we hear about how one reader thinkolated her way to profits.

We received two pieces that had previously been published elsewhere. While we decided to award the top prizes to original entries, we’ve included these in our “honorable mention” category. Reader pessen took a look at “Real Estate Redefined” in his article “Redfin: Revolutionizing the Home Buying Process[10],” and conradiepieter presented “Armanino Foods of Distinction – A Rock Solid Dividend Aristocrat Micro Cap For These Uncertain Financial Times[11]”.
