written by reader Energy Storage

By Old Guy, February 10, 2020

With the massive shifts in sustainable energy production and distribution, energy STORAGE should be the next big horizon for investors. Everyone knows about the massive Tesla lithium battery production facility in Nevada, but few know about vanadium redox batteries as a safer, longer lasting alternative that can also produce electricity on demand from chemical processes. There seem to be only a few companies pioneering this technology and others that are pursuing fuel cell, hydrogen and other technologies for storage.
What companies are emerging as the leaders in storage technology?

I’m moving towards believing the use of hydrogen as the most practical form of storage. In the UK hydrogen is being trialed as fuel with 20% mixed into grid natural gas. boilers and gas stoves do not have to be modified.
In Northern Scotland wind energy is used to convert water to hydrogen by electrolysis. Two companies are doing well on this technology, ITM Power (electrolysis machines) and Ceres Power (fuel cells for domestic use)
