Motely Fool – Genesis Trend – Extreme Opportunities: Trend-Spotter

By AnotherFool, August 13, 2020

Did anyone see the latest Motely Fool marketing video ”Genesis Trend”, announcing their new ”Trend Spotter” subscription service? They teased a couple of picks at the end. Presentation bullet points were:
#1
-A pick not in any of their other services
-Focuses on specialty e-commerce
-Recent quarter saw sales growth acceleration from 24.5% to 46.2%
-Massive tailwinds from demand shifts in online
No clue what this one is. It’s not recommended in any other services so it’s not Shopify (SHOP).

#2 Is this company Sprout (SPT)?
-A pick not in any of their other service
-Focuses on social media cloud software
-Recent quarter saw sales growth 26.8%
-Under the radar, with a market cap of $1.4 billion
Only 1 Motley Fool service recommends it, and I’m assuming it’s in the new service.
I googled “social media software $1.4 billion market cap” and found https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/social-media-management-platform-sprout-social-sets-terms-for-%24150-million-ipo-2019-12-02
From the latest earnings call transcript, “This implies revenue in the range of $128 million to $130.5 million. At the midpoint, there’s an expected overall reported growth rate of 26%, up from our prior midpoint of 25%.”
Sprout (SPT) has less than 5,000 owners in Robinhood, which satisfies the ”under the radar” part as well as less than 1K Fool users have it set as a favorite.

I watched. Did not feel compelled to purchase any of the three that were “revealed” on the call –though not in the new services. A big snooze, IMO.
