What is the SKYFI Disruptor Digest is talking about? They say it will pass up 5G and 15G is already in the works.
LEOS Low earth orbit satellites. Instead of using high orbit sats (like DirectTV, hughes) 22000 miles up, LEOS uses many smaller sats at a much lower orbit 180 miles, so you latency is much lower (ping time). This is important because there are many applications that need low latency to work correctly (most computer games), but other things as well.
