What exactly is happening with GME? Is this a real short squeeze or something else?

I’ve been trying to read some about it but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information. I have always been buy and hold but if it is a legit squeeze with more shorted than the actual number of real stocks available would that make it a sure thing? I’m thinking about buying a very small position as an expendable long shot? Is this a waste of time, a sure thing, or somewhere in between?
