I might have read the same article from Barron’s that you did which discusses Coupang as more than just the “Amazon of Korea” that would be typical of a newsletter’s marketing hype. To quote:

“The company accounts for 4% of the country’s consumer commerce, with a broad array of online retailing services: Think Amazon.com plus Instacart, DoorDash, and Netflix. ”

While there are several advantages mentioned for investing in this company, the caveat is its high valuation. I’m hoping Travis will chime in with his usual objective analysis.

Meantime, I believe that the bustling, non-Communist economy of So. Korea is very underrepresented in US stock exchanges and welcome the chance to invest in a direct listing of one of the top companies (second only to Samsung) of that country.

Looks like this has settled following IPO March 11th but they have an partial early lockup ending on the Thursday the 18th (30 million shares). Will get diluted some following influx of said shares on market so I will check back in next week.

I have started a small position if you look at E-commerce companies Amazon has laid out the path for companies to follow like MercadoLibre , JD.com, Sea limited early investor have all.benefit and if history repeats Coupang early investors also will benefit .

I have held CPNG since the IPO. It has done nothing. I sold it today and will buy something that moves.
