Magna is a recent buy recommendation on Motley Fool Stock Advisor Canada, special reports sections, as Canadian Tesla!

March 11, 2021. 5.5% up since.
Also I must admit I am extremely unhappy with stock advisor Canada.

Why are you unhappy with it? How do you rate it compared it to the US version?

US are much much better. On the Canadian service, TSE/TSX stocks do not have good performance. US picks are not as good as the SA US. At best majority are in 20 to 60% range. Not more than couple of +100%.
Majority of picks after October 2020 are down. With some picks more than 50% down.

Travis, I don’t use option trading because i only have a very basic understanding of the process. So can you help me understand each part of the following: Fubo: July 16 $42 Call Sweep (41) near the Ask: 501 @ $1.849 vs 46 OL; Earnings 7/3 before open (est) Ref $330.82

How does this affect me if I’m holding this stock for 1 – 3 years? Thanks

That sounds like shorthand from some sort of “alert” service — a Call Sweep is usually a reference to an unusual large options order that might indicate some larger investors are speculating on the stock in the near term. “501 @ $1.849 vs. 46 OL” probably refers to the size of the order — a trade of 501 contracts. I don’t know what OL means — maybe they’re referring to OI, which would be ‘open interest’, the number of call option contracts that existed previously at that price and expiration. The fact that it’s a July 16 expiration and earnings are expected on July 3 means, I suppose, that this is a bet on earnings being strongly surprising.

I’m not a super-active options trader, and I don’t know what the other shorthand references are that they use, but that’s my take. Someone noticed that a big options trade was placed which represents a bet from a larger investor that earnings will bring a positive surprise. 500 contracts at $1.85 is about $92,000, I haven’t looked to see if that’s a particularly unusual “bet” for this specific stock or not.

If you’re committed to holding a stock for 1-3 years, then whatever happens in the next month presumably has little to no impact on you.

I made a spreadsheet from the info here but have no means to upload. Here is an image. There is no math in it and the x’s to the left of the symbols in in TM are based on an arbitrary date of 3/16/20 neat the bottom of the sell off last year

Thanks for sharing . Would be better if you could sort by the recommendation date instead of alphabetical order, would you be able to make a change…

Paste image in one note, right click on the image click on “Copy text from picture”. Paste in excel, you will have the image converted to text in one single column, you can rearrange that as you wish.

Looks like some of the SPACs are getting their mojo back. And some getting unstuck from that $10 mark. (HOL for example) They splattered me in the downturn. Looking back on things I think the SPACs hurt me the most. I felt like I was doing a good job not getting caught in the EV hype with all the battery plays and EV makers etc., but then got cracked over the head on all the other ones I saw as “higher quality”.

These all tend to trade together, even if they already completed the merger. Paul has a bunch of them too. SRAC, BFLY, TRIT, OPEN, STEM, DKNG (one of the oldest ones), SSPK and VLDR (both owned by both Paul and Ian)

Ian King has some really good ones in my opinion too. PSFE, DNMR, MP, PSTH, RMO

Others that neither have but I really like: GHVI (look into this one, I think it is a gamechanger, Matterport), ARYA (this is more a lotto ticket for me, Nautilus Biotechnology, but a biotech that had some high quality investors – a binary win or lose type of situation), VACQ (Rocket Labs, I think Paul will eventually buy this), PDAC (Li-Cycle, lithium battery recycling which from what I understand is going to be a real issue), and ASTS (AST SpaceMobile – this thing took off today, I only have 20 shares that I bought around $7 just so I’d keep an eye on this but I got my timing lucky and caught a few bucks).

One of the reasons I’m talking about this is because I am still weary of SPACs and wondering if any of the more experienced investors have an opinion. Do you think these are still dangerous or will turn out to be some good investments?

I got burnt as well (SRAC, ARIA, DCRB, FIII, HOL, PSTH)… so from now on, my approach to SPAC is simple: (1) the target must be part of an industry I strongly believe is the future (can be space, can be recycling, etc) so that means to do your DD, and (2) the price must be close to $10/share since if the process with target doesn’t go through, I would get my $10/share back (minus a small fee). All the recently pitched SPAC in IK NEF are around that price (LSAQ, EQD, CAHCU). I believe this way you won’t take a huge risk and the risk/benefit ratio is favorable.

WISA and SLGG are set to be the next movers according to the charts. If you want another ticker that’s about to move, AHT is it. They have a presentation today. BBIG will be a big mover as well. Buy the dips not the tips.

If you bought June 10th, you should have gone from 4.3 to 5.4 at least with BBIG and 5.7 to 6.6 so far with AHT. They are both dipping right now but AHT should get to about 8 at some point and BBIG really has more potential in terms of how high it can go, but I would wait to see if it forms support at this level. VYNT could also be a mover in the coming weeks/months. But be advised that this stock spikes dramatically then drops. Don’t marry it.

Anyone in the inner circle know if Paul said something about TGODF from his secret portfolio? They made a pretty big sale of their Valleyfield production facility. Maybe he will talk about it in the next update but it MIGHT have been big enough for him to say something ahead of time. Thank you!

From his email yesterday (I am a member of the secret portfolio) “And the Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd. (TSX: TGOD) is selling its Valleyfield facility in Quebec for $32.7 million. This sale will significantly reduce TGOD’s debt without disrupting operations.”. It’s still in the portfolio and 88% down from when he first recommended it. I guess he still has hopes for it.

Awesome! I had his $10M Portfolio (when it was called that before it changed to secret portfolio). And have A LOT of that stock compared to my equal weighting of everything else. Didn’t listen to the rules of the game very well early on and didn’t equal weight. I hope that one can turn around. I need about 55c to be really happy, haha. Thanks again!

What’s happening with uranium stock? Has something fundamental changed. Or is it a good time to considering averaging down?

These are long term stocks. Today the “commodity related sectors” are down – shipping, uranium, fossil fuels, agriculture, natural gas etc. I suspect it’s a little bit of hedging and profit taking going on by the short term traders with the inflation debate raging on and the FED meeting tomorrow

Someone knows something! I understand the jump in Bitcoin and Bitcoin related stocks, but I don’t see anything in the news saying why AXTI should have jumped that high…..And I didn’t see it on ‘wallstreetbets’ either.

Shout out to Devil Dog! Big day for me today….My 100x stocks that I own are finally at pace with the overall market! Most of the gain is from 2 of the 11 stocks I own, but still it’s nice for that basket to be in the green v the S&P 500! Now if IPO and SP can make that hurdle I’ll pop a bottle of champagne!

I had a decent day too. Looks like the crypto market turned upward, which bodes well fir many of our stocks.

During our past couple of months, PM was saying we’d see a turnaround and have a decent summer. I bought more 100x, and also went big into the crypto with some of my “winnings” and some new money. When PM said $15ok Bitcoin in 12 months, I got the FOMO. And where BTC goes…

My bigger plays included loading up on BTC, ETH, ADA, ETC, AAVE, UNI, LINK, BCH, and MATIC. I’m ready fir them all to get back to their highs.

Get some $ in your accounts for the next 100x! Feeling like we’re due for one.
