This thread is amazing, and most of the stocks will far outpace the S&P, and they will have a more turbulent path, but that turbulent energy is what high growth names have. As long as you’re not over leveraged, there is no problem with market dips. I like to be leveraged only to the point where my portfolio could dip by 50% and not trigger margin calls… ‘Sleep Well At Night’.
Its also important to place expectations in the 1-5 year time frame, then the 20-50% dips look like nice sales to accumulate more if you have some money available.
In times like this, I have to remind myself that nothing in nature travels in a straight line, nature twists and turns, as does the market. High growth companies just have amplified moves… down and up.
Thanks to all the generous and wise people on this thread.
Best wishes to all

I’m a simple minded Okie. I keep asking myself, “if the market went up 25% with a corp tax cut, what will it do with a tax increase?” The market/stocks doesn’t care about absolutes, only if things are getting better or worse. What would higher corp taxes mean?
I think bigger, well established, wide moat companies will benefit the most because it will hurt the smaller competition more. That is why Bezo’s is in favor of higher taxes and higher min. wage. This could be a reason our small caps are suffering while bigger companies are doing much better. AMZN has had a very nice pop the last few weeks. remember the market is a forward looking mechanism.

Higher taxes reduce economic activity. The GDP growth for 2021 will be misleading in many ways because Govt spending is included in that figure. There is a lot of govt. spending these days. My point is that while GDP growth will be strong this year, the tax increase (from Govt perspective) is an excellent time to raise taxes. It will help mask the situation.

The other side of the argument is, “dont fight the Fed!”. M1 and M2 money supply is insane right now. That money goes somewhere. Small caps have historically been a good place to invest during an economic expansion cycles (industrials, cyclicals, commodities are also good investment strategies).

I dont have that flippin crystal ball, so I diversify.

Yellen is also pleading with the rest of the world to set a min. corp tax. This would definitely help strengthen her cause by basically keeping US based companies hostage in the US. – See Ireland’s economy post 2008-09 for an example of a country going all in to attract corporations. Even Trump’s plan was reshoring capital that left the US. I would be totally shocked if her request was adopted. I know there are a handful of EU countries that are currently lowering corp taxes. From my perspective, it would be an opportune time to attract new business. Money goes to where it is treated the best.

Let me throw one more thought in.

Yes, some corporations pay taxes. Some have benefited from huge loopholes and have paid none. Regardless, who really pays those taxes? The consumer. Do the corporations make less money when taxes are high? I doubt it. It gets built into the pricing. Who suffers? The consumer.

Minimum wage laws were originally designed to keep immigrant workers out of the labor market and benefit the native born American workers (whites). The same effect applies, but instead of targeting the Chinese immigrant and the black worker, the minimum wage laws target all entry level workers. To whose benefit? The large corporations who, as a result, have little upcoming competition because it becomes too costly to start up.

Sure, McDonalds survives. But that greasy spoon you love will fold. Amazon survives, but that kid starting up in his garage just can’t make it happen because of labor costs.

He’s correct on the historic reasoning for the implementation of minimum wage. The rest of his post is a rather peculiar interpretation of the role of corporate taxes, though.

Hi Okie
You sound very well informed. You must be making over $400,000 because that is where you have to be to endure a Federal Tax Hike. Everyone above that level is CPAed up to deal with the issue. Maybe money goes where it always goes= to the 1% – lots of us debate and chat @ things that we cannot control.

Merging is scheduled for April 27 when the ticker will change. The underlying company is Stem Inc which does “smart energy storage” for cleaner, cheaper and more efficient use of eltrictiry. Stem would be the first smart energy company to go to the public.

Silly rabbit ,

You have to embrace the volatility! It can make you pull your hair out if you focus on the day-to-day stuff, but if you look long term it’ll all even out.

Also, as hard it is to do, have your brain do the work, not your emotions. This is easier as you age, but work on it now. Yesterday, MARA down 10%, I bought more, and put in sell order so when it gets back up near its peak, those shares get offloaded. Find the opportunities in the down days to get a bit more of the ones you love most.

I may have told this one before, but I’ll repeat. PM had DDD as stock of the year for 2020. I was already in it, as it was already in PU. I loaded up. It probably was my biggest position at the time. I was getting in at $12-ish. I think it want down below $5, and I kept buying, little pieces. It was hard to overcome the emotion, but I liked the company and PM was confident throughout. It was 11 tough months, but then boom.

Hang tough.

Thanks DD. I will absolutely heed your advice, no matter how tough it is, I’ve followed your comments for quite some time, and have even emailed you in the past. I have leveraged positions for some of the picks in the 100x (when they were 20%-40% from their recent top), its those leveraged positions that are killing my portfolio right now with time decay, seems most are moving sideways at the moment.

What really is frustrating is that SPY/DOW/QQQ’s have recovered, and making new highs, so what will happen to these smallcap/microcaps when the broader market has another few days of correction.

Most of the people on Banyan Hill right now are saying things like, “the dogs have gone into a cul-de-sac and lost the scent, they are circling around” and we are about to have an upward move.

You emailed me? Didn’t see it.

This stuff will ping pong around for a spell. It takes time to work out the excesses. I went in last night and today doing just that on many of these names. Hold a core position and add when its yucky and let the market take me out on a pop with the “trading” part.

they will be back in favor….. your biggest gains will be buy and hold. It is a proven strategy. just learn from your mistakes (if you made any) and try not to repeat them. I went in heavy on several fossil fuel stocks when literally every major money manager was dumping them . I was down 25-50% on OXY, APA, OKE at one time. The only dude buying pipelines was Buffet. I held tight and those have done very well and payed a nice dividend to boot. I looked at my tech names and they were on fire. The market and stocks are cyclical. We want to buy at the top and sell at the bottom. DD is so correct in having conviction. Now you learn when to be cautious. put those two together and you will give yourself a great opportunity for success.

Debating on dumping my RWLK at 3.29 cost basis so I can free up capital for new picks. Lots of money was made since first 100x listed last year but off its highs it is constantly lagging. Great (and expensive) tech long term but I’m struggling to remain BOP over the next 12-18 mos. Would welcome any input – Cheers!

I would suggest not. Here’s my thinking:

In the last six months or so we saw the tech approved for use and insurance coverage in Europe. We also then saw it approved her in the US for Medicaid coverage. It is widely recognized in the disability “industry,” in which I work as an attorney, that lots of this new tech contributes to an individuals independence (thereby reducing costs, like caregivers) and increases their productivity (potentially working).

What I would hope to now see is demand for the tech grow, and therefore see jumps in revenue. It won’t be overnight, but should be significant.

And DAP has pointed out the military uses that might also derive from this, but that may be further down the road.

If you were my son, I’d tell you to hang on and work your butt off to fund that next opportunity. RWLK HAS LEGS!

Another down day. Economic reporters say inflation is 4.2% higher than one year ago. Powell claims to have all the economic tools to deal with it but with all the money the current administration is spending, I’m really concerned. Afraid to look at my portfolio today.

The FED has really had un-mandated increase in scope from original business model. Powell is going all in and not holding any dry powder for any hiccups. Essentially, the US has given our economic decision and policy making to unelected officials. CNBC states yesterday more money has gone into the stock market in the last 5 months than the last 12 years- we are now a stimmie based economy. It was my understanding a capitalist system had a free market system but now it is government controlled. The stimmie has stealthy transformed the US into a socialist economy with everyone depending upon “The State”

I wish you would keep your politics to yourself. Everything you stated is hysteria and not founded on facts. Worrying that the US is now “a socialist economy” is just downright laughable. CNBC is a biased and hysteria-inducing news source. I might also add that we have always been a “stimmie based economy” if one is white. I’m sure you don’t want to hear that so this is why we should stick to speaking specifically about stocks and if you are well-read, about economic indicators or policies that might impact specific stocks, but it needs to be based in facts supported by evidence. I’m tired of the blatantly partisan misinformation I’m starting to see here more often.

Some times the truth hurts. I agree with big tuna.

Undue government intrusion into the economy has accelerated socialism beyond imagination over the past 18 months. To deny this is to deny obvious truth. Government’s role in the economy has irrevocably tarnished the free market. Kiss capitalism and the free market goodbye, and say hello to inflation. Don’t get me wrong, there’s always been government overreach, but what we are witnessing is on a scale that should caution every person. You can thank the US government for the rise of crypto. The printing of fiat money has devalued our currency and created a very dangerous precedent that continues in perpetuity under our current government’s leadership. If you were to ask me the best way to destroy this nation, I’m not sure I could draw up a better plan.

Truth hurts.

I don’t believe there is anything partisan, as far as I’m concerned they are all a bunch of bums and need a viable third party, about having concerns about debt and deficient spending without plans of repayment. I read in WSJ every American family has a debt of $800,000 due Treasury issue holders before the last and next round of “stimmies”- a term I get from Reddit on their investing threads. Gimme my Stimmie is a rallying call for the next generation for meme “stonks”, I cant claim credit. If I upset anyone I apologize, it was not my intent. I don’t actually see what being white has to do with anything, I actually don’t identify as white. I too am only here for the money.

I consider these long-term plays, as does PM. 3-5 years at a minimum. If you believe in the company, or PM’s veracity, then ride out the volatility. We’ve not had this one very long.

Equal weight — one of the RotG.

That being said, I do buy more when they are down, with the intention of maintaining my standard 100x position, but hoping to catch a little extra when/if it comes back. So, for example, I bought some more of VYNT just yesterday. This extra piece, I very likely will sell off if it gets back near the price I entered at. Not a huge gain, as I might only get 30%, but the way these things move with a little news, could be a quick turnaround. And then I’ll have more on the cash line fir the next 100x rec.

I’m no expert. I have become a strong believer in these 100x recs, and and getting full positions in each one based on my PM “faith.” And this “trading” is more about liking the thrill than any evidence of my skill.

PM would not suggest you put more into an already equally weighted position. But, seriously, if you believe in the stock, then it is “on sale.”

I am all in on 100x. If one is below the entry point, I buy more with the hope it pops up and I can use the pop for some seed money on the next rec without disturbing my original position. So, if you see one down, maybe you treat it like a sale price. Until PM says sell, I’m still in.

Excellent information! Understanding how PM fits into your portfolio is paramount…

“Most of my millionaire clients have clarity and focus on what their individual buckets of money are supposed to do for them, and know they are invested accordingly. This means that although they may feel concern, they generally don’t panic and make any changes that will hinder their long-term portfolio growth.”

Totally agree with @Cacumar. Please stop promoting biased political views on this board – it’s insensitive to those who don’t share the same views, opinions and irrelevant without objective analysis. I could respect a weighted, cogent view supported by facts and context – which I have seen on on here – but this is not the place for propaganda. Random statements about the US being ‘socialist’ is not what I want to read when I get an ‘alert’ about Mampilly’s 100X stock service.
It’s not a political forum.

FYI — MARA, HVBTF, BBKCF, CLSK on watch next week – Coinbase (COIN) direct listing April 14th should buoy the crypto market and stocks, IMO. It’ll be the first crypto exchange/service to be publicly traded. Already seeing pre-market price moves on BTC over the weekend. XRP is also over $1.00 – other alt coins also pumping.

I scalped a few MARA calls w/ 4/16 expiry on the precipice of the COIN listing. (Hope it works out..!)

I’ve been doing some calls on 100x, but pick dates as far out as I can. These things are so volatile. I’m staying away from too-short-term plays.

It interesting too, probably due to low trade volume, that the options don’t move in the same direction of the stock, or move less that the stock.

If you watch these, there may be some good opportunities. A short time ago I got some WRR options that were in-the-money for only $0.01 over the intrinsic value.
