I’ve used Roku for years now. Just recently, I tried an Amazon fire stick. Am I the only one who finds the Roku stick vastly superior?
I agree with you. The focused company doing one thing really well often has an advantage, and Roku’s OS is far superior to the other ones I’ve tried in streaming. The competitors will catch up, but Roku has the biggest user base and isn’t sitting still.
Travis, In reference to your final sentence: “I will not trade in any covered stock for at least three days, per Stock Gumshoe’s trading rules.@, Please how do I find Stock Gumshoe’s trading rules. Sorry I am new to this
Basic rules we go by are here: https://www.stockgumshoe.com/about/
The important ones are that I disclose if I own anything I write about, and won’t trade it for three days after publishing… and we never are paid to cover (or not cover) a stock or a newsletter.
Is that a legal thing? Are you legally not allowed to, or is it a moral compass thing?
The SEC requires at least minimal disclosure to make sure you’re not doing an undisclosed “pump and dump” — a lot of ugly things are legal if you disclose. We go beyond that, mostly to try to be clear and make sure there’s no conflict between what I write and how I invest.
Everyone who writes publicly about investing needs rules and guidelines, but they don’t have to be the same rules we’ve chosen.
Thanks for the explanation
Boston Omaha you seem to like and they just sold a lot of dream finders, does that concern you ?
I was surprised by that, since they’ve indicated they consider DFH a long-term partner, but not particularly worried. If I remember correctly, they sold about 10% of their position.
Galaxy Digital on sale today! (9/20). Anyone add?
$BOMN is flying!
Indeed, no real business updates… that move is probably mostly from the little wave of attention flying into the shares after Barron’s highlighted the Buffett connection on Sunday (https://www.barrons.com/articles/warren-buffett-berkshire-stock-51631814784).
Typically that kind of attention fades, so I expect we’ll probably see my low-$30s buy range again before too long, but you never know.
Travis, you recently added to your PAR holdings. I noticed today (Sep 22) that TOST had its IPO and did well.
Is TOST a competitor to PAR?
What do you think of its potential?
Travis,
Not sure if you saw this but this is a good explanation from David Lesser on the PW/MILC relationship (start at 2 min mark) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9aUJa3-x3s
Thanks… I like what I’ve seen from Lesser, I’m mostly just concerned that this opens them up for the potential for some big conflicts of interest, particularly because it’s PW’s largest and most challenging project to date.
