I do not know what they are, but if you watch Altucher’s public video advertising the service, he identifies categories for the 9 “next gen” cryptocurrencies.
These are the categories and my current guesses on what cryptocurrency is being referred to:
Ethereum Killer: MATIC
PayPal’s Replacement: UTRUST
New YouTube: THETA
Mastercard of The Metaverse: MANA
Supply Chain Superstar: VET
Next Nasdaq: UMA
King of the Cloud: FLUX
Sotheby’s of Crypto Collectables: RARI
Internet of Blockchains: HOT

Another crypto I’m researching, but have not bought yet, is MIR. It has some similar properties to UMA, as it implements a protocol for mirroring non-crypto assets, such as the price of gold, on blockchain. MIR is my next best guess for the “Next NASDAQ” crypto, but I think my UMA guess is correct since Altucher explicitly states UMA as his #1 crypto pick in his marketing video.
I am more inclined to AR instead of FLUX…?
I see AR more as an alternative to FILE. Yes, it might be an AWS S3 replacement, but S3 is just the storage service of AWS.
FLUX is providing computational services, which is why I think Altucher is referring to FLUX as the “King of the Cloud”.
I do actually like AR and have been contemplating purchasing some.
SAND could be the “Mastercard of The Metaverse” instead of MANA.

James Altutcher hasn’t a clue on Crypto Currencies. There is NO ethereum Killer. Imagine saying 99 Cent store is Walmart Killer.
Altucher likes ETH, too, it is just marketing. MATIC does solve some problems ETH currently has and is completely compatible with ETH. I think he likely thinks that MATIC as an investment will outperform ETH over the next few years.
However ETH 2, when the SHARDS and proof of stake implementations have been fully released, will likely be on par with MATIC with regard to blockchain transaction performance and, IMO, ETH will continue to be a great investment.
I own both ETH and MATIC.
I agree. James is clueless. He is past his prime and lost in the newsletter world.
Investor Place pundit, Tom Yeung, called SOL and ADA “Ethereum Killers” while touting Ethereum. Another internet article put AVAX, BNB, and DOT on the “Ethereum Killer” list along with SOL and ADA.

UMA is one he gives at the end of his webinar. And it was already on Coinbase. So, I guess that UMA is not in the “9 NEXT GEN”.
As well, I am pretty sure that MATIC was also on Coinbase, when he gave this list.
For the Next gen #1, it could be Avalanche (but it is now on Coinbase, and I don’t know since when). Or it could be Fantom which is still not on Coinbase. Do you think it would be possible ?
