written by reader Fidelity Investments – Charting

Travis, In an earlier post you mentioned that you use Fidelity Investments as one of your two principal brokerage accounts. I am now in the process of moving my brokerage account from T Rowe Price to Fidelity due to the wealth of educational and charting services offered by Fidelity. When you research stocks and share your thoughts about a stock with your subscribers and when you make your individual investments, do you use Fidelity’s Active Pro Trader? If not, why not? If you so use the APT, can you please share what trends, indicators, momentum, volatility, etc. you use when analyzing a stock? Enjoy your thoughtful insights. Thanks for any information you can share.

Hi… I have actually never used their Active Pro Trader stuff, sorry. For charting I’ve long been in the habit of using YCharts, so I haven’t looked into the newer Fidelity stuff at all.

I generally use charting as a visual tool for fundamental factors that matter to me or that give some insight into the progress of the business, not for any kind of technical indicators about the stock price (ie, I might chart a company’s free cash flow over a decade to better visualize how consistent they are or what the growth looks like over time)
