For those of you who had Brookfield shares before the spin off (and those of you who like math) please chime in, my brokerage does not seem to have a handle on the spin off and in their current assessment of the total amount I invested gains 21.6%, so something is off. The piece below is from the Brookfield web site explaining how the split should go on a “tax basis” is the wording they use:

The Butterfly Proportion will be 0.12, therefore, the tax basis of your Brookfield shares should be allocated 88% to the Corporation shares, and 12% to the Manager shares that you receive on the distribution.

As I understand this an individual with 100 shares at 40 dollars per share breaks down like this
100 shares @ 40 per share = 4000
4000 x 0.88 = 3520 3520 / 100 = 35.20 per share for BN
4000 – 3250 = 480 480 / 25 = 19.2 per share for BAM

This may be a situation where I am ahead of the brokerage and need some patients, but to register my concerns I have contacted them, Thanks to all Ed
