Dr. KSS,
I have yet to comment on one of your pages, however I’m sure there are many others like me who read all of your articles with great interest and have never said thank you. It is clear you spend many hours every week writing and teaching all of us at SGS and for that I can only say thank you for everything you do. It is an honor to be a part of this community and to learn from someone as knowledgeable as yourself. Wishing you a very Happy Holiday and the best for 2015!
Ken

I appreciate the time and effort this site requires and for that I am very grateful and say thank you. You have taken the time to personally answer so many questions from many, including myself about many topics and you always give freely. I wish you a speedy recovery, Merry Christmas and a great 2015.

I’ve been an irregular for a couple of years but just recently started following Dr. KSS and the comments that follow his awesome articles. This site and its followers give so much useful information! Being an irregular has been the best thing thats happened to my portfolio. Looking forward to the Dr’s next article and all the positive posts that follow. Thank you Dr. KSS for all the time you must take writing for SGS!

Dr KSS,

It is a challenge to express the admiration I feel for your efforts on StockGumshoe. As a retired educator, I have been especially touched by your selfless commitment to educating all of us on this forum site and beyond. Your compassion, dedication, and integrity, so evident in all your many contributions, have inspired so many of us in so many ways. When Alan Harris first launched this effort to honor you, I immediately thought of making a contribution in your name to The Malala Fund; http://fund.malala.org/#who-we-support. This charity supports the work of Malala Yusafzai, (http://fund.malala.org/#malala-s-story), the recent co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, in her efforts to promote access to education for girls (and boys) throughout the world and especially in South Asia and Africa. Having worked with and for the dalit community in India for many years, I am all too aware of the crucial role education plays in promoting long-term social change. The most recent anti-education atrocities of Boku Haram in Nigeria and the Taliban in Pakistan only underscore the urgency of the work Malala and her colleagues have undertaken. I see that same commitment in your very different, yet similarly effective efforts to reduce suffering in this troubled world. May we all continue to learn from your humanity.

You helped me, too, Doctor, with motivating me to take some (blessedly minor) health issues up with my own PCP. Also, I have a close friend with NASH, and you’ve given me great insight into those struggles. And I’ve made a bit of money! I hope the holiday season is awesome for you and your loved ones!

Dr. KSS,
Instant Karma has visited us many times since you started posting
your amazing articles on the Gumshoe. I still can’t believe the piece
you wrote on the XIII steps of blood clot formation in wounds, or
the one about your poor patient with the exploding balloon of blood
in his liver whose life you saved. I’m sure I speak for many of us when
I say you’re the best professor we never had when we went to college!
Thank you for sharing your profound knowledge of biochemistry with
us, for making the invisible world of ddRNAi visible, compelling to read
about, and vital. Your numerous articles on medical topics surely are
a revelation. Thank you for putting the three Magi, formerly known
as” Wise Men”, out of business! If the closest the Three Wise Men can
get to the truth is handing out a bit of gold, frankincense, and myrhh
around the winter solstice, they’ll be lucky to get a job at UPS when
they get home. Happy holidays to you and your family Dr. Karma.

OK, here’s my followup, a bit late.
As promised, for the Mean St Ministries daily cafe I made:
a large pan of pasta & meatballs with homemade pasta sauce (using tomatoes & onions from our local community garden), 5 quarts (5 litres) tomatillo & pork stew (tomatillos & carrots also from the community garden), and two large pans of turkey casserole with vegetables & homemade gravy (turkey & pork not from the community garden.) Food that a liver doctor could approve of!
Like other Gummies, I have learned an enormous lot from Dr. KSS about biotech activities and how the experimental drugs, etc. could interact with diseases & our bodies. My vocabulary has increased with such wondrous words as “apoptose”, though I’m still trying to drop it into conversations at home.
Like other Gummies, I sincerely hope that Dr. KSS is able to keep up his grueling lifestyle and continue to entertain & educate us so freely as he did during 2014. Take it easy, Dr.! Don’t wear yourself out!
FOOTNOTE: For those who aren’t familiar with food banks/food pantries, much of the ready-to-eat food made available to these organizations is high in sugar, “bad” carbohydrates, salt & unhealthy fats (think pastries, white bread, unhealthy snack foods, highly processed foods), and the hot meal at the cafe is for many the only nutritious meal they’ll get for the day. Many live in motels, and food storage & cooking facilities are quite limited.
Here’s to an educational & perhaps profitable year with Dr. KSS’s generous guidance. Thank you sir!
Penny
