for lack of a better word Guaranteed Income Certificates? Could the big secret be Warrants? According to the story Warren Buffett has made some handsome profits utilizing these when he buys large blocks of shares in a company. These are certificates that allow the holder to purchase shares in a company at a set price before an expiration date. Is there anywhere to get the names of these warrants and their expiration dates? Thanks Travis

There is not any one place to look for warrants — the canadian ones are pretty well covered by canadianwarrants.com and by listings at the Financial Post (http://www.financialpost.com/markets/data/group-warrants.html), but US warrants are not separately available in an easy list from the major press sources or from the exchanges as far as I can tell. Most of them are either TARP warrants, of which there are a dozen or so listed and trading on banks and insurance companies, or the warrants that are issued in the formation of a SPAC (the “blank check” companies that raise money for an undecided acquisition and have a couple years to consummate that acquisition, usually investors in these get warrants as incentive).
