Travis, Zerenix is a phosphate binder for people in renal failure on dialysis. The kidney normally clears excessive phosphate into urine. Renal failure patients get hyperphosphatemic, which, because phosphate binds calcium, causes calcium to nosedive. But frankly, this new agent adds little to the field. I have known this date was coming but deliberately did not mention it to the biotech irregulars because it is a non-event for a savvy investor.
Zerenex, I mispelled, Anyway, many other products do the same thing well.
Good to know, Dr. The downside of these dates being much more clear and well-tracked under PDUFA is that they are very hotly anticipated, always interesting to see what the reaction is. It strikes me as very odd to see a single institutional investor take a huge stake while they’re awaiting approval, but most such investors don’t oftentalk about their holdings.
Dr. KSS – Zerenex both lowers elevated phosphate levels in dialysis patients AND reduces Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agent (ESA) treated by Amgen’s Epogen, as well as the need for intravenous iron. So it lowers the cost of treating dialysis patients, which is a major item in the Medicare and Medicaid budgets. I think the payers will be quick to adopt a medication that lowers their expenses of treating a chronic disease.

SG stands for stock gumshoe of course. I am not sure about the feather.
the stethescope is for our own MD reporterm Doctor KSS.
IRR is for the irregulars for some reason meaning those of us who pay.
the magnifying glass I am mystified about also.
It’s all just semiotics, you know. like what Umberto Eco is is prof of.
Just guessing, but the feather might for SGS authors. A feather can represent an old-fashioned quill (not that SGS is old-fashioned!) that was used for writing. If so, it should have an ink bottle next to it. The magnifying glass is probably the personal icon for the keeper of the Thinkolator, Travis.
Going ‘round and ‘round about the record player icon. Can’t seem to figure it out. My mind isn’t in the right groove, I suppose.
Wish we had a “Dislike” button. Not needed for any of the above posts, though.
Can’t find a Subscribe button on this thread.
If you click on “what do these icons mean” it should pop the definition up for you, though that may not work in every browser. IRR is for Irregulars, the quill is for our contributors/guest authors like Dr. KSS and Myron, the “thumbs up” is something you get after a few “likes”…. and then once you get a LOT of likes you can get up to two or three thumbs up.
Oh, and lest I forget — you can now edit your profile and change the way your name appears and you can also upload a little icon image directly to our site if you like (gravatar.com images work fine and will follow you everywhere that uses this system, images that you upload directly here only work on stockgumshoe.com). To do that, just make sure you’re logged in and go to “edit profile” up top then click on the option for “change how your name is displayed” and you’ll also get an option for uploading a photo.
My guess is the magnifying glass is SG’s avatar, stethoscope is Dr KSS avatar, the feather indicates an GS contributor, IRR means the comment is from an irregular. You have no avatar since you haven’t added on to your profile. I think I’ll add one to mine later.
And… Yup… No way to ‘subscribe’!
Perhaps you can answer the Addison Wiggins The last Legal Currency Loophole in America: The Secret 228% Plus Return. Thanks,
Robin
Operating Margin (ttm): -555.76% . Does that number scare any of you ? I am not even close to being a hedge fund manager, but that is not the only negative number I am seeing checking out the key statistics on Yahoo finance. I guess Mr Klarmann knows something that we don’t know or is he just trying to squeeze all the short positions ?
All biotechs who haven’t yet gotten a product approved for sale have terrible-looking financials — can’t make it look good when there’s no revenue coming in and lots of expensive R&D. KERX is bigger than most and does have some revenue, but they’re still waiting for their ship to come in. Doesn’t mean it’s a good investment, but most small biotechs have nasty looking income statements.
Most biotechs do not have good news at FDA trials. Even the good news often is bad news to the market. Instead of investing $2000, use the $ to take a cruise. In a week you will feel a lot better and have forgotten about the stock.
I quick question for Dr. KSS, Please can you add Tapimmune to your long list of companies to review? I bought shares quite some time ago based on a newsletter recommendation. They seem to have good science and a promising pipeline. But hey what do I know? I would appreciate your thoughts on the pipeline. Many thanks,
Dal
In any event, date was just extended to September 7.

I was very happy since beginning of July with the recommendations of BioScience Millionaire and I can go that far to promote his service… All the picks that he suggested had successful results. Unfortunately ACRX failed and dropped by 42% causing big loss for me. But the day before he came up with another pick which looks like promising. This is after the SG the best idea site for me…. But I understood clearly FDA/FDUA play is a gamble. But to me the KERX play is the most interesting one which will happen on 7th . Instead of sending a CRL the committee delayed the approval to 7th Sept, I think they want to approve it.
