Nibbled at BRIZF apx a year ago at Myron’s recommendation and plan to hold for the long haul. Travis, I am wondering what you think about TGI these days.

Travis, your site is too addicting, I quit (until next weekend that is!) My investing strategy is all set, thanks not in small part to what I’ve learned here – it is based primarily on the basic materials sector – so I’m glad you’re covering that as much as you do. So now I just have to resist jumping into the various fascinating conversations on your site when I should be doing other things. I got sucked into that for a while a couple of years ago on a political site, and on Twitter: when you’ve got favorite celebrities directly responding to some of your posts and tweets, quitting can be as hard as getting off smoking, caffeine, or sugar. But I did it cold turkey. You and Dr. KSS may be the new stars in my universe, but I’ll limit myself to a few posts on weekends only and try to keep them relevant to investing. Have a great week.

Travis, I loved your comment about the liars in mining – recently I watched an interview with Rick Rule in which he mentioned that hundreds of mining companies are really only “employment schemes” – that’s why I like SGDM so much and appreciate your prior coverage of it.

Here’s your comment, which I wish all investors would read for their long-term protection: “I still think it’s important to have a small allocation to gold and silver as part of a long-term savings plan to protect against currency depreciation (all modern currencies depreciate, they lose value over time… though not always against each other), and I like to speculate on the occasional gold-related or mining equity, but it’s probably important, every time you look at a mining stock, to remind yourself about just how lousy a business mining is… it seems delightful to just find something valuable in a plot of otherwise worthless earth, dig it up, and sell it, which is why the mining industry is full of liars optimists…” (I can’t duplicate the line you have drawn through “liars” in the article – so funny.)

Travis, you are correct in your assumption about Ferris and MFC. He advised readers to sell as he has recently, begrudgingly, instituted stops on his picks. He had been adamantly opposed to stops in the past as he is supremely confident in his research. Assuming he is doing so at the behest of his boss who continually preaches minimizing losses, etc.
