I would like to share my experience with other out there and give out a warning.
I became a lifetime member 2 years ago for the sum of 3.000 Usdollar (which I regret now) with Marin Katusa Research.

I have not seen anything yet that makes it worth while. My 3.000 US dollars are spent on a person that one could describe as a “double’ player. In fact… a false player.

The big issue is that Marin Katusa is NOT INDEPENDENT. And that makes his advice untrustworthy and not in line with ‘ giving the best advice possible’ His research should go further then just a small number of stocks. He claims to pick the best of the best. But instead he comes out with very very few concrete stock picks. Over and over these stock picks turn out to be connected with people that he calls’ “very good personal friends”.

In his advisory newsletter, Marin Katusa is continuously talking about these good friends in the resources sector that have a good reputation and know what is going on out there. Names likes Ross Beatty, Rick Rule are mentioned over and over by Mr. Katusa in his news letter. All of these guys have interests in companies that he advices you to buy. SO! If he is so close (even ‘very good friends) with interested people .how independent and pure can his advice be? Exactly! It is not pure nor independent nor trustworthy and not worth your trust and money.

Better stay away from Mr Katusa and do not spend a penny on his advice. This is a warning for all people out there who are searching for the truth. Mr Katusa is a “double’ player and is not trustworthy at all.. Taking your money and same time he is pleasing his friends. Double players can never be trusted.

A much much better advice you will get from Hillary Kramer. And that comes with a 70% lower price. She is independent and trustworthy. Mr Katusa is not worth your money. This review is my personal experience and comes from a pure heart. Just want you to save you money and not spend it on the wrong people! Goof luck to all of you

You mentioned that you have been a member of KRO for 2 years – do you realize that during this period – Marin and his subscribers have enjoyed some incredible returns despite being in the midst of a brutal resource bear market/early stages of a bull market?! Marin recommended purchasing shares in Northern Dynasty Minerals last summer when shares were trading under $0.45 CAD and mind you he was one of the first guys to the mention story! All the other newsletter writers piled on afterwards after listening to Marin’s advice but anyway you get the point. I just don’t get how you could say that “I have not seen anything yet that makes it worth while” because clearly you have missed something here. Needless to say, shares are trading at $2.80 today and hit a 52 week high of $4.54 this February which equates to massive ROI if you were to take some profits/reduce exposure along the way. Also, you clearly don’t seem have understanding of how the resource market function because if you did you wouldn’t be complaining about Marin’s connections in the resource market because that is entirely how this business works! I would encourage you to look up Pareto’s Law as there could not be a more important principle for an aspiring successful resource investor to understand. It basically implies that 64% of wealth in the industry is created by the accomplishments of 4% of the people. Therefore, Marin has given himself an incredible edge by associating with the top 4% in the business who create nearly all of the value for shareholders. The 4% include many of the folks that happen to be his “good friends” – Ross Beaty, Lukas Lundin, Doug Casey, Rick Rule, Frank Giustra, Amir Adnani etc. This strategy will continue to work regardless of what type of resource market we are in (bull or bear market). Hence, by subscribing to KRO retail investors can give themselves the best chance to make consistent returns in the market by investing in the best people and the best companies which often provide the greatest leverage. We are still in the early stages of a major resource bull market and Marin’s returns have truly been excellent so far. I am excited to see what the future holds.

RaDe. While you made some good points defending Marin, the last statement you made was completely wrong. And that was a year ago. We were not in the early stages of a “major” resource bull market and now a year later we still are not. I sure hope Marin wasn’t saying that. The truth is we are still in a bear market which hopefully has found the bottom since this last move down. I’m talking about the TSX Venture exchange.
Oil is being pounded. Precious and industrial metals struggling to not break lower and struggling harder to move up. While I don’t have a personal opinion either way regarding Marin, I do have a problem with anyone who offers a service without a refund option. I prefer monthly subscriptions over huge lump sum payments. Then a person can pay as they go and if they aren’t happy they can cancel without being out of pocket a large sum of money.

Maybe his returns have been excellent, but mine were abysmal. I’m now back to where I was when I signed up and still nothing to show for the membership fee. Better off with random stock forum picks off google.

Joined Katusa and wish I hadn’t. This is one I would NOT do again. Whiff of snake oil and self interest here. Made some, lost more, fed up with the promise that it will all work out in the long term. Example, Equinox (was Trek) -” best private placement ever” (or some such description). Looking at the trajectory of the stock afterwards makes me wonder if the rubes were dragged in so the pros could sell into the buy.

Agreed – have been a member for 2 yrs as well. His picks have been pathetic, yes made money on northern dynasty but all his other recommendations are down considerably – talk about dead money..I expected alot more from this guy so its been incredibly disappointing!

Is Katusa Armenian? I did the one year $1500 membership. Huge mistake!! I lost on every single thing he recommended. He pushes hard and tries to sell the lifetime $3000 membership so he can help you lose money for the rest of your life. If you don’t buy the lifetime membership, he charges you for an additional $1500 anyway, and you have to contact them to get the money credited back to your card.

KRO lifetime subscriber here since 2016. I was always impressed with his analysis when still with Casey. Also appreciated how well connected and informed he is. Most of his picks seem to be fundamentally sound. I thought he had a lot of things going for him.

However, I was steadily draining my portfolio by following his entry and exit advice. I started breaking even when I started entering and exiting on my own. Started profiting when I got away from his picks entirely.

He talks about sector cycles and market timing but has worse timing than I do, and my timing is average at best.

He shat the bed with Canadian oil pick and pipeline take-away. I got out in advance of that one.

He pushed a Canadian steel producer just in time for steel tarriffs, didn’t buy that one.

I noticed he stopped publishing monthly running stock performance at the end of his first 2019 newsletter, and now just publishes holds, buy unders, and sell overs. And that pretty much sums things up and buries him for me.

If you’ve been around since 2016, you will have seen that his letter has produced some very unique opportunities and research over the years. I don’t know of another service that publishes the intricacies of private placements, and even ways for readers to participate. And even videos of site visits. He actually does due diligence unlike other writers that change publishers every year. And he’s had some big wins, that i’ve been a part of (some losers too but the winners have been rewarding to me)

I for one did VERY well in Northern Dynasty. Nevsun was a double. Alterra was a double. Kirkland Lake skyrocketed even though he closed the portfolio position early. A recent junior explorer was just a double in 2 months from Dec 2019.

Maybe i’ve got a longer time span and don’t put all my eggs into a few single picks (something which he details extensively in his education center and ebook), but I trust his process. And his research is second to none in the resource space as it’s the same research followed by family offices and HNW people. You can’t even get into his fund – it’s not taking new members – I asked! His newsletter is the next best thing for a retail guy like me.

No issue with his research, strategy, or picks, that’s why I signed up in the first place. I was just summarizing my experience with his entry/exit points, and specific recommendations.

Of course another subscriber’s experience may be different from mine depending on which picks, entry price & timing, exit price & timing, and position sizes. My own timing in signing up in 2016 was late, which meant that I bought several positions at later, and at higher, recommended entry points. I also had a habit of picking his losers, of which there were quite a few from 2016 to end of 2017.

I’ll give you that as of late 2018 the trends have changed a bit, and especially in terms of macro his picks have a lot more going for them now. If I had signed up coming into fall 2018, I’d be in a much different situation at this point. I’m thinking he’ll do well through 2019.

If someone wants a lifetime KRO subscription, mine’s up for grabs. If he has a banner 2019 and I still have it by year end, I’ll be in a different position and adjust my outlook.

Joining KRO was my worst investment descision ever. Bad calls, no winners, he’s talking about the heartaches he suffered… At the moment he’s pushing – without asking – another newsletter, $2500 a year, as a “special price for KRO members. On You Tube you’ll find him bragging with his mates, and he tells you how he invests millions in this or that deal. Stay away from this scam. I wish i had done….

Joined the Katusa herd (quite cheaply) in his newsletter beginnings because he was so famous. The present price offering is quite extreme. One very unpleasant point is his puffing of another newsletter now. Many picks have been unsatisfactory despite convincing analysis. Mr Katusa has made himself rich but not me (so far).

KRO Chairman (lifetime) subscriber here (got the upgrade offer a year after I joined). Joined in 2017 but have heard of Marin Katusa before. I’ve also subscribed to a few other premium newsletters but his really stand out as he invests his own money in his picks (calls it skin in the game), and you can bet he’s very protective of his money so he does extensive research and due diligence on the companies, and he shares this research with subscribers. I mean the man even went to Iraq with guards wielding AK47’s just to get research done….
All in all, it’s been a great two years and I’m looking forward to how his new “royalty” deal will do.

Just saw his video today, 040220, via barcharts.com and on stockgumshoe see your comment. From it , it appears you are saying what MK wants you to believe. Have you seen audited statements of his track record? Iraq(?! give me a break) Newsletters are a waste. If you’re looking for simple, objective. long term strategy, you might want to check out point & figure charting. Your google search may include 3boxreversal.com, investopedia, etc. All worthwhile

He writes well and does research, so his sales pitches are tempting, but there are at least 2 caveats.
The first is that fundamental analysis will only get you so far. Ff the market or a sector is in bear mode you may have to wait and suffer for a long time before the stock goes up.
Secondly, there is the problem of why write a newsletter if your stock picks are so good? Ok, could be for an ego boost of having followers, but I think that anyone who really has good picks hides his hand for as long as possible. I have followed stock gumshoe for quite a while, on and off and most of these stock picks by all these newsletters do poorly, so that brief meta-analysis says a lot. What Stock Gumshoe does is find out those stocks being promoted, that is the service Travis does for us. That he is willing to share his portfolio with us is good and maybe he gets an ego boost from it, but he is not promoting it, no extra charge, so “hats off to you Travis, and thanks” Anyways, these stock promoters are all cut from the same cloth in my opinion, buyer beware.

New subscriber so have yet to see how the service is, but I wanted to comment on their customer service. Through no fault of theirs, I subscribed twice and my credit card showed two payments. Within a few hours, they called me regarding the error, and promptly refunded one of the payments. Good on them for being proactive. Some other companies I know would just take your money and hope you didn’t notice …

Two things to keep in mind: One, his research is amazing and in-depth, but obviously not the be all and end all. You need to conduct your own due diligence on the companies he recommends. Two: his exclusive private placement deals are probably why his subscribers stay on his platform. You should ask about private placements before you sign on, as sometimes they have ongoing deals and sometimes they don’t.

I’ve been a member since the beginning. The majority of his recommendations have been massive losers. Ironically, the only stock I have which is performing well is a stock he recommended to sell: Kirkland Lake Gold. Since ignoring his advise it’s gone from strength to strength. I would advise against anyone considering purchasing his newsletter, there are better ways to lose money.

Back when he used to work for the energy side of Casey Research it was the same way; most of his picks did badly and it seemed the time to buy his picks would be after he said to sell them! The few winners he had seemed to go on increasing in value after he sold, and the losers would bottom out shortly after then start to climb. I haven’t read his newsletters since that time however.

Been a lifetime subscriber since the beginning.
I subscribe to two other newsletters in addition to Katusa & my rating of his newsletter comes last based on the following:

Customer Service: Non existant especially as regards private placements
Buy In Prices: 95 % incorrect
Stock Research Reports: Very detailed & easy to read but if his Buy In Prices are wrong his research serves no purpose
His UPS: His unique selling proposition is that he invests his own money & buys/sells within 48 hours AFTER each stock recommendation. While that might sound impressive subscribers have no way of verifying this fact & secondly he could place orders for a bare minimum of eg. $1,000.

Would I recommend this newsletter? NO

With regards to newsletters that specialize in junior natural resources companies; I have subscribed to Dave Morgan’s silver focused newsletter, Doug Casey’s International Speculator and also energy newsletters, Paul van Eeden/Brent Cook/Joe Mazumdar “Exploration Insights” newsletter, and John Kaiser’s online research website.
I thought that Exploration Insights was best but it’s expensive and nearly all the picks are high risk/extreme reward tiny nanocap exploration companies that trade in Australia, Canada or London. Also it’s a newsletter that is by and for exploration geologists.
Second choice would be Kaiser Research Online — but his website is currently closed to new subscribers while he is redoing the site. Also his site is more akin to a massive searchable repository of data on thousands of companies but to narrow it down for subscribers he does provide two different lists, one is about 200 “Bottom Fish Speculative Value” stocks and another list of 20 to 30 Favorites. This seems to be a service by and for data hungry deep-delvers.
Doug Casey’s got a lot of good ideas but other people are doing the stock picks for the various newsletters in the stable and those analysts seem to change over on an unpredictable basis; so the analyst that came up with the idea for the stock that went up over a thousand percent last cycle might not work there anymore. Doug Casey was the source of the ideas that had the highest returns in my own experience during the prior natural resource boom from 2001 to 2011; Northern Peru Copper and Global Copper were spun out of his 2003 or 04 pick Lumina Copper and went on to be hundred baggers on my cost basis. Aurelian found the Fruta del Norte gold deposit in the remote mountain jungles of southern Ecuador and was a seventy bagger for me when it was taken over by Kinross Gold. A few picks like that more than overwhelm handfuls of others that don’t pan out.
Hope that helps.

I became a lifetime Marin Katusa Research subscriber in early 2017. I paid 3.000 USD for that (unfortunately no refunding option was offered!). My experience with Marin Katusa is terrible. His service is despicable. Horrible track record. Like many other advisors in Stocks and Crypto world Marin Katusa does not do ANY better than the rest of the advisors. It is just random luck if you make profits on his advice. And if you think of the huge sum that you pay for this advice it means this is a very bad deal. Only when the whole market goes up…then you might make money with his advice. But then.you will not make better money because his advised stocks do not outperform the average stock of market as a whole.
Marin Katusa is great at writing appealing texts. Appealing and convincing use of words, phrases . Somewhat heroic and universal approach towards investing. He is really a good writer and convinces you with great words. He likes to convince you with photographs and likes mentioning ‘big names’ in the resource industry that he calls “good friends”. This all to makes you believe that these “good friends” from the industry provide him inner side information. In the best case; advisors (like Marin Katusa)would like to make the difference for you. But I have discovered -by experience- that they can’t, and they don’t. They will not make a difference for you. They earn money on you. That is their interest. The tools ans tricks that advisors like Marin Katusa make use of is a great presentations and great texts. Being expensive with their advisory service is also a trick! It helps you make believe that this must be a very special service worth all the money you pay. The strange psychological effect is that people want to believe in what they read. From that moment on they are ‘deaf’ for any type of criticism. It could be that you read this and do not want to believe this review, simply because you want to believe in great profits and high returns that Marin Katusa (or whatever other advisor) offers you. Do not step into the mistake. I have done that for you and I want you to not repeat after me. I am honest and this review is carefully written. It is great that Stockgumshoe offers a platform and podium. Use it and save money. Keep it in your pocket! Unfortunately, Marin Katusa like all other advisors) is not worth a penny. The holy grill for investing is not provided by mr. Marin Katusa. He provides you merely a fantasy that will never turn into reality

Marin Katusa is great at hiding all the tracks of his portfolio result. He does not even use a list with overview. His advisory is shady without traceable result trough his own overview of recommendations. If you like great texts with words like “Life Changing”, “Long term opportunity with solid growth of personal wealth”, ” growing tour personal wealth long term” etc, etc and more Bla bla bla then Marin Katusa is your man. But do not expect to make money on his advice. You probably will not make money but lose instead.
