Description
Intro-level Fool newsletter that focuses on Tom Gardner’s “Everlasting” stocks that his team considers “high conviction” ideas that can be held forever. Similar to Tom’s half of Motley Fool Stock Advisor, as brother David’s Rule Breakers is similar to the other half (Stock Advisor pits “team Tom” vs. “team David,” though with David retiring from stock picking that’s “Team Everlasting vs. Team Rule Breakers” as they try to focus less on the founding brothers). Everlasting Portfolio is an “upgrade” service from Everlasting Stocks, and the family also includes many focused portfolios of “everlasting” stocks that they sell separately.

I bought in to the Everlasting Portfolio in July 2021 and did not get out until December 2022. The 26 positions I held through that period lost 60 % of their value. Through March 2024, those positions would still be down 40 %. The three positions that are up materially (more than 100%) over that period were held over from Motley Fool’s Blast Off 2019 portfolio. The “fool” in me was getting talked out of selling everything in December 2021, before the massive losses began.
