I’ve had this service since January 2009. The first month was free. The educational material is extensive, and extremely helpful. All of the ‘Quickshot’ ideas, and portfolio ideas use future dated options – mostly one or two years out and are extensively explained with an assigned batting average which gives you some idea of your chances for success and also an estimated maximum rate of return. I think there has been only one loss since the service started. First year cost was $550. Not sure what will be charged for the next year. Obviously, many of the options are still in play since the service is relatively new, but the ones I’m tracking with a virtual portfolio, and in my own portfolio are mostly positive. This is an excellent way to learn all types of option investing. I highly recommend it.
I just subscribed to this a few hours ago. Based on it being a Morningstar product and also based on the above excellent review, I was surprised to see that all positions in both of their portfolios are in negative territory. You have to look at the opening and current option prices to see whether they are up or down since in one of the portfolios, they only give the current position value rather than the gain/loss.
I will be cancelling my subscription first thing Monday.
The only good thing is it was a free trial and I won’t be charged.
I never lost so much money from an options newsletter in my 25 years of trading options. P&L is horrible.
My apologies, I thought this was referring to the Optioninvestor.com newsletter called “Option Writers” by Jim Brown. Horrible performance. I am not familiar with the Morningstar newsletter.
