Does anyone have any feedback on using Zacks Research Wizard software as a lifetime member? If so have long have you used it? What has been your track record following the software? What is your preferred filter/technique that you follow? Have you been through a recession using it and the outcome of that cycle?Thank you for your help!
I signed up for the Zacks home study (including Research Wizard) course & paid a small fee for this. In using this I was amazed to see the results they were claiming in their videos (their system of buying Filtered Zacks #1 stocks only, up 32%/yr over 15 years while S&P 500 up 12%/yr during same time period). I may try their system just for thrillers, but to me it almost looks too good to be true (or at least if it was true, someone here surely would have commented if they were getting such amazing returns). Will repost after trying it for awhile.
Hi Michael! So? How was your experience with the ZRW? Many thanks!
I purchased Research Wizard last year, lifetime subscription for $2900, I believe. When you do backtesting back 15 years or so, it seems to beat the S&P benchmark. For the past year, at least, the strategies haven’t work for me, and backtesting most was disappointing. Some of the picks were horrendous, one #1 ranked stock (JE) took a dump as soon as I bought it. I expected it would come back, so held it, only to lose 2/3 of my investment (in about 3 months). It does give names of interesting stocks to further investigate.
drgschmidt … really? So its not working? I was thinking of taking it.
Hi drgschmidt, Any update on your Research Wizard Experience? I’m considering buying it but looking for good reviews from active users. Many thanks
Sorry it took so long to look at this thread again. While the strategy I was using in 2019 was not profitable, I learned to tweak one of the strategies to give 1000% backtest results in 2000 (but, interestingly, the same tweak in 2019 would have been DOWN 4%!) My Ameritrade account from Jan 1st to Dec 31st 2020 went from $94K to $169K, and today 2/18/21 is at $223K (though last week it hit $233K during the day). The Backtesting is highly inflated, I think it may pick stocks for Monday morning after the price of the stock has jumped significantly, but bases the backtesting on the Friday close price. (One stock I bought jumped from $3.76 to $6.28 before you could buy it. It went up to $12.00 the next Monday, not quite the 210% profit they claimed, but pretty good.) I use the program as a guide to identify possible stocks to buy, and have often sold covered calls instead of selling the dropped stocks each week.
I’m considering a lifetime membership with Zacks, so if theres any feedback from anyone on Zacks it would be much appreciated. I’m a lifetime member of Stansberry and have several other subscriptions with other companies as well. Oxford club as well. They all seem to have there trick marketing schemes and this one really cracks me up. The guarantee they will work for free for another yr. if they don’t come through for you. How’s about the old moneyback if you fail us.
It we be nice to know if Zacks is a one in all type solution.
I tried out Zacks Ultimate. It’s not for you if you want to make money with short-term investing in stocks and options (expensive for what it provides which is not useful in my case). What I don’t like is once you provided your personal data, including credit card info, there’s no way remove them even after cancelling your subscription. The same with your e-mail address; I keep getting spammed by their e-mail offers.
I purchased the lifetime subscription to Research Wizard in early 2021. There is a lot of trial and error and a steep learning curve. The basics are that RW pulls from all stocks available in the US and a lot overseas. Therefore the first basics you must learn is to 1. In most cases choose US stocks only. 2. Block out OTC and OTC Bulletin Board exchanges. 3. require enough average daily volume that you can get in and out exactly when you want to…my minimum is 400K shares a day or more. 4. Price I ask for $1.25 per share or greater to block out the really cheap penny stocks. Set up screens for trading every 2 weeks minimum or more. This gets you around the price lag from Friday close to Monday open changes due to after hours trading. If I find a good scan for 12 week or 24 week rotation, the market is good and up, I will simply repeat the scan every week to make a watch list. It is one of the strongest screeners out there. It does however focus mainly on fundamentals. A little bit of technical factoring, but it has a formula section where you can create a lot of custom items but you are limited to weekly or longer data items. There is a very tiny dBase of daily data. Overall, I would do it again in a heart beat. Just remember, it is not the end all be all package. No such thin g exists anywhere. It does however allow you to build your own watch lists with stocks that historically have performed very well to watch and choose from. Sorry to be so long winded. Bottom line is simply that it has paid for itself comfortably. Thank you for your time.
