My local Chipolte has been hammered with competition and Taco Tuesdays etc…we are a college town in Greensboro NC and the decline in the service and quality has been noticed. I am certain the evaluation is high. It’s a fad that fading. Try a Roti or the Rice Bar. WOW!
When I first noticed CMG stock price and it was before the begining of their melt down with E.coli outbreaks. I was lost for words because in the upstate of S.C., never heard of them but their stock was over $600.00 and couldn’t beleave it. Myself I would never buy a stock at $600.00 and a restaurant at that. I think the stock has rebound simply from so many people holding it at a priemium, it dropped fast after more outbreaks. Don’t think it will ever recover. Last I heard they where turning to burgers under the name ” Better Burgers” according to Bloomberg reports. Which is a highly competitive bussiness. Time will tell but I don’t see them ever hitting the $700.00 money marker again or $500.00. P.S. We do have South of the Border and coming soon new franchise Willys Tacos. thinairmony
I’m not saying the Thinkolator is wrong, as you said, “We don’t even really even need to warm up the Thinkolator to tell you that this is Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG),” but I’d suggest you might want to warm it up a bit. The Fool was very recently rather cool on CMG, though still bullish:

Greetings from Lancaster, Ohio… home of the world’s first Tasty Made… there were two cars in the parking lot on Sunday afternoon… local comments are basically that it is not differentiated enough to warrant the high prices and just average taste of the product. The Chipotle down the street is still popular, though.
I wish Chipotle would try to make an positive global impact with Tasty Made, like they have at Chipotle… they should try a nice big veggie burger at Tasty Made. Get rid of meat entirely… that would be something to chirp about.
I was never a fan of Mexican fast food so I never understood how the stock ran up the way it did, and because of that I stayed away from all the hype and never took a position in it.
